Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of the Alto Adige region, where the snow-capped peaks of the Dolomite Mountains meet the lush vineyards, lies the illustrious Martini & Son Winery. This family-owned establishment has captured the essence of the region in every bottle, showcasing the unique terroir and winemaking traditions that have been passed down through generations.
A Glimpse into the History
The story of Martini & Son Winery is one of heritage, dedication, and a deep-rooted passion for viticulture. Founded in the late 19th century by Giovanni Martini, the winery started as a small-scale operation, tending to the native grape varieties of the region. Over the years, Giovanni’s commitment to quality and innovation laid the foundation for the winery’s success.
Today, the Martini family continues to uphold these values, combining traditional winemaking techniques with modern expertise to produce wines that reflect both their heritage and the evolving tastes of the global wine community.
Terroir: Where Nature and Nurture Converge
Alto Adige, often referred to as Südtirol, boasts a unique terroir that plays a pivotal role in shaping the character of Martini & Son wines. The vineyards are situated at varying altitudes, taking advantage of the diverse microclimates present in the region. This geographical diversity, combined with the mineral-rich soils, imparts a distinct personality to each wine.
The cool Alpine climate influences the slow ripening of the grapes, allowing them to develop intense flavors while retaining a crisp acidity. This balance is especially evident in the white wines for which the region is renowned, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Gewürztraminer. Red varieties like Lagrein and Pinot Noir also flourish here, offering a rich and complex palate of flavors.
Artistry in Winemaking
Martini & Son Winery upholds a steadfast commitment to crafting wines that showcase the unique characteristics of both the grape varieties and the terroir. The winemaking process is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, ensuring that only the finest fruit makes its way into the cellar.
Once inside, the transformation begins. The Martini family’s expertise guides the delicate process of fermentation, aging, and blending. Oak barrels sourced from both French and Slovenian forests are used to refine the wines, allowing them to develop depth and complexity over time.
A Culmination of Taste
The result of this meticulous approach to winemaking is a range of wines that tell the story of Alto Adige in every sip. The white wines boast vibrant aromatics, with notes of citrus, orchard fruits, and a distinct minerality that reflects the region’s soil composition. The red wines, on the other hand, reveal a spectrum of flavors from red berries to spices, all wrapped in a graceful structure that highlights their elegance.
Whether enjoyed on their own or paired with the rich cuisine of the region, Martini & Son wines offer an experience that resonates with both newcomers and seasoned oenophiles alike.
A Journey Worth Embarking On
Martini & Son Winery stands as a testament to the enduring connection between land, heritage, and craftsmanship. Each bottle is an invitation to explore the flavors of Alto Adige, to savor the labor of generations, and to share in the family’s passion for creating wines of exceptional quality.
For those seeking an authentic taste of the region’s history and terroir, Martini & Son Winery beckons—a journey that promises to leave an indelible mark on the palate and the heart.

2018 Maturum Lagrein
Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is saturated and deep. On the nose it is mature, ripe, rich and opulent. The taste is full of energy, ripe, round, silky, fat, and dry, with medium tannin, with silky tannins, and average in acidity and with balanced structure. On the palate it is layered and has coffee, chocolate, cedar, plum, blueberry, earthy, pepper, bread, licorice, meaty, glycerin and tobacco flavours. The finish is medium long and a bit too alcoholic .. This wine is a mouthfilling.
