2024 Pinot Grigio – Elena Walch
Elena Walch has long been one of Alto Adige’s defining producers, elevating Pinot Grigio from a simple, neutral white into something far more site-expressive. Drawn from estate vineyards at altitude, where Alpine breezes preserve acidity and aromatics, the 2024 vintage continues this house style: precise, mineral and quietly structured rather than merely refreshing.
The nose opens with crisp pear, green apple and white peach, lifted by hints of lemon zest and mountain herbs. On the palate, it is clean and focused, driven by bright acidity and a subtle saline edge that gives shape and persistence. The texture is lightly creamy from time on fine lees, yet the overall impression remains taut and energetic. The finish is dry, fresh and delicately spiced, leaving a lingering note of citrus and wet stone.
A polished, terroir-conscious Pinot Grigio that moves well beyond the category’s easy-drinking stereotype.
Corked Points: 91/100
