2015 Camatina Querciabella
Querciabella’s Camatina is a Cabernet-driven Tuscan blend that epitomises the estate’s philosophy of balance, elegance and purity of expression. In the 2015 vintage — broadly regarded as one of the most successful in recent Tuscan memory — Camatina shows both ripe, generous fruit and a structural poise that reflects meticulous vineyard work and thoughtful élevage.
The blend for 2015 is anchored by Cabernet Sauvignon (≈70%), supported by Merlot (≈20–25%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (≈5–10%), a combination that delivers both aromatic depth and finely tuned tannic support.
On the nose, the wine opens with blackcurrant and blackberry compote, accented by cedar, graphite and tobacco leaf, with gentle hints of sweet spice and Mediterranean herbs. There’s an inviting clarity to the fruit that feels both expressive and refined. The palate is medium- to full-bodied and resilient, with concentrated dark fruit framed by bright acidity and polished, ripe tannins. Mineral undertones and savoury nuances — dried herb, leather and a whisper of cocoa — emerge toward the finish, which is long, layered and precise.
This is Tuscan Cabernet in a poised, harmonious register — generous yet elegantly structured, ready for near-term enjoyment but supported by enough backbone to evolve further.
