2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots – Domaine de Montille
Les Poruzots is one of Meursault’s most characterful premier cru sites, sitting just above the village with shallow, stony soils that tend to produce wines of tension rather than overt richness. Domaine de Montille approaches the vineyard with its trademark restraint, favouring clarity, moderate oak and precision over the more opulent side of Meursault. In 2022, a warm and generous vintage, the domaine managed to preserve freshness while allowing the terroir’s mineral backbone to come through clearly.
The nose opens with lemon zest, ripe pear and white peach, followed by subtle notes of hazelnut, crushed stone and a faint smoky reduction. On the palate the wine is focused and finely textured, combining ripe orchard fruit with a chalky, saline minerality and well-judged acidity. The finish is long and composed, leaving a lingering impression of citrus oil, wet stone and discreet oak, suggesting a Meursault built more on structure and elegance than sheer power.
