Screaming Eagle was acquired by its founder and original owner, Jean Phillips, in 1986. Jean Phillips was a successful and well-liked real estate agent in the Napa Valley. Jean Philips assisted in the sales of several of the most recent outstanding wineries, which are now held by their owners.

The yearly production of crates is limited to 500–800 units, which is insignificant in light of the market’s tremendous demand.
This is a fact that most people are unaware of. A portion of the harvest was matured in a unique barrel featuring an inscribed cap for the inaugural Screaming Eagle vintage. That same barrel has been utilised for every Screaming Eagle vintage since, for good luck. Yes, that tradition is enthusiastically continued by the new proprietors.
In 2006, Jean Phillips sold the winery to Stan Kroenke and Charles Banks for an amount that was reportedly close to $30 million. Though there were rumours that the amount was actually far greater. David Abreu was in charge of the vineyards at the time, while Andy Erickson was the winemaker.
