Yet, Marco’s unwavering commitment to his vision led to the acquisition of numerous vineyard parcels, including the esteemed Santo Spirito, Guardiola, San Lorenzo, and Calderara vineyards.
At the heart of this illustrious estate lies the Nerello Mascalese grape, an indigenous varietal that thrives exclusively in the fertile volcanic soil of Mount Etna. The vineyard’s fabulous old bush vines, a significant majority of which predate the devastating Phylloxera crisis, are deeply rooted in the rocky and sandy terrain on the northern face of the mountain, perched at altitudes ranging from 800 to 900 meters above sea level.
The winemaking process at Tenuta delle Terre Nere is an artistry that blends tradition with innovation. Each grape is handpicked, ensuring that only the finest fruit is selected for production. The grapes are then gently destemmed and softly pressed to preserve their aromatic potential.
